The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Vermont Transit Corridor (VTC) Project aims to improve transit mobility, reliability, and accessibility along one of Los Angeles County’s busiest bus corridors. The project consists of approximately 12.4 miles of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) improvements along Vermont Avenue, extending from Sunset Boulevard to 120th Street. The proposed improvements include dedicated bus lanes, 26 BRT stations at 13 locations, enhanced pedestrian facilities, and roadway modifications to improve transit operations and safety.
As part of the VTC Project, LIN Consulting, Inc. (LCI) is tasked with preparing restoration traffic signal design plans, street lighting and pedestrian lighting design plans, and associated photometric calculations. The traffic signal restoration design includes modifications to existing signal infrastructure to accommodate proposed BRT stations and roadway improvements. The lighting design efforts focus on providing appropriate illumination for roadways, pedestrian facilities, and station areas.
LCI is also responsible for preparing Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans to facilitate construction of the proposed BRT stations, curb ramp improvements, and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) utility relocations. These plans address temporary traffic control, vehicular and pedestrian access, and construction staging requirements to minimize disruptions to traffic operations while maintaining safety and accessibility throughout construction.
LCI’s services involve coordination with the project design team, Metro, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), and other stakeholders to integrate traffic signal, lighting, and temporary traffic control improvements into the overall project design.
