The project is in west Chula Vista and consists of 113 signalized intersections. The project objective under the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) is to enhance safety at signalized intersections by improving signal timing operations. The project aims to optimize coordination between signals, update red and yellow times, and pedestrian clearance intervals. LCI prepared fieldwork notes for all locations which included the following items:
- Lane configuration
- Cross walk distance measurements
- Types of detection
- Speed limits
- Grade per approach
- Signal Phasing
- Bus Stop locations
- Parking availability
- Photos of existing conditions
- Traffic signal cabinet inventory
