Pershing Bikeway, San Diego

The Pershing Bikeway is a 2.3 mile path that connects North Park to Downtown San Diego. The project aimed to enhance access, comfortability, and convenience for people who bike, walk, or roll between Balboa Park. It features a separated two-way bike lane, buffers from vehicle traffic, a neighborhood traffic circle, and a separated walking patch for people of all ages and abilities. Two underground storm drain systems where also added to eliminate and/or to greatly reduce flooding in the area.

LIN Consulting prepared traffic street lighting plans for the Pershing Bikeway project in the City of San Diego.  The plan set included six sheets of street lighting and proposed 77 street lights for the project.  The main purpose of this project was to adequately illuminate the bike path adjacent to Pershing Drive and at the roundabout of Pershing Drive and Redwood Street.  LIN Consulting utilized the City of San Diego lighting standards to properly space and identified the streetlights in the plan set.

The Pershing Bikeway project won ITE Project of the Year – 2024.
